THE DOMINIO EFFECT

Tasked with creating a white garment with emphasis on fabric manipulation and silhouette, I chose to focus on replicating toppling dominoes. The project analyzes causal sequences and chain reactions in our society’s digital age. More specifically, how the digital age contributes to the chain reaction, feeding our ever-longing desire to set the trend, follow the trend, and begin the cycle all over again. We are so easily influenced and consumed by what’s “cool” and on trend. Despite even our best efforts to relinquish and defy trend culture, we can’t help but be consumed. Falling prey to “what’s next” may simply be our sincerest form of innovation.
